National Timber Group & Lavers

"We have been working with the team at Excenta for several years in a number of different areas. Their Azure and ERP expertise with their customer focus have helped us deliver better results to our stakeholders. Recently, they helped us performance tune our ERP environment, along with migrating the Arnold Laver environment into Azure. Excenta's knowledge is second to none and I would highly recommend them."

Mike Kenyon - Group IT Director

Beesley & Fildes

"I trusted the team at Excenta to move our business to the cloud several years ago. Since then I have regularly used their deep industry knowledge to assist us in leveraging the functionality BisTrack offers along with other 3rd party applications. Excenta act like an extension to our business and I am delighted with the service they provide. They make a real difference."

Lee Davies - Managing Director

Shannonside

"We had allowed both our infrastruture and BisTrack application environments to fall behind releases and required updates. Excenta provided a robust, reliable and secure cloud managed service solution, which enables Shannonside to concentrate on what we are good at without having to worry about future infrastruture, updates and security threats."

J T Atkinson

"JTA have worked with several of the Excenta team for many years and they keep delivering solutions which meet our changing IT demands. Excenta's flexible approach enables JTA IT staff to work in a conducive manner in achieving the best and most cost effective approach. In recent times Excenta have proven that again, with already having an Azure cloud platform, the migration from our incumbent ERP system to Intact iQ, has been well planned and implemented with the Excenta team, but certainly presented some challenges to which they have risen with the responsiveness and resourcefulness we have come to expect of them. Their excellent support and advice in all infrastructure matters was a key deciding factor in retaining Excenta and Azure cloud as our partners of choice for the new ERP platform - this was a strong desire throughout the ERP decision process. In simple terms having Excenta and an Azure cloud managed service, makes me sleep better at night."

Mark Atkinson - Director

"Excenta have provided exceptional expertise and outstanding support in helping McMahons implement and fully support the BisTrack ERP system. They have both in-depth knowledge of BisTrack and the merchant industry itself. Excenta know the McMahons business, uniquely they can work directly with McMahons employees and see things from the customer perspective. I have worked on many projects with Excenta and they always deliver ahead of time. Excenta have a can do attitude, are highly responsive and are great to work with."

Brian O’Gorman - IT Manager

"Excenta have become an extension to Romerils own IT skills. They provide BisTrack knowledge and experience which enables us to get the best out of BisTrack and address our ongoing operational business needs. We engage with a number of Excenta personnel, which provides a breadth of skills we could not have in-house."

Scale & growth focus

  • Scenario & Requirements

Due to several acquisitions, this customer needed to integrate several multi-branch business units into their Azure & BisTrack solution, as well as their Office365 environment. Each business unit had disparate infrastructure on-premises which all needed to be brought into Azure & Office365.

  • Excenta’s Activities
Over the course of three months, the additional business units were migrated into the existing Azure & BisTrack solution as well as Email into Office365. Additional Microsoft Azure capacity was added at the point of being required with no upfront cost to the end customer. A robust process for migration was developed and executed, working closely with the customer.

  • Customer Outcomes
The customer ended up with a single Infrastructure solution across all their business units. The existing users did not notice the additional users which had been added to the system, as Excenta always ensured that the BisTrack performance baseline was maintained by provisioning the required Azure capacity for the number of users on the system.

Infrastructure upgrade

  • Scenario & Requirements
This customer, a long-standing family-owned business with over 10 locations and busy trade counters had experienced poor application performance and had concerns relating to data backup integrity and security. The infrastructure supporting this customer was several years old and required a variety of system and application upgrades. The customer also had a large amount of bespoke legacy code relating to various business reporting and processes which required thorough investigation ahead of the migration.

  • Excenta’s Activities
Excenta migrated all of the customer’s applications and services such as their ERP, Financials, Payroll and HR applications, Printing & File Data to a brand-new Microsoft Azure solution based on the latest Windows and SQL Server technologies. Excenta consultants reviewed the bespoke legacy code and fixed any potential issues such as hardcoded values ahead of the migration. In addition, Excenta also migrated the customer from a legacy Exchange server to Exchange Online (Office365) as well as activating several other Microsoft 365 services such as OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. A large archive of business emails dating back several years was also migrated into a cloud-based email archiving solution provided by Barracuda.

  • Customer Outcomes
System performance, security and resiliency were all increased. Excenta worked with the customer to understand the structure of the business and were able to place users into “silos” of resources which meant that kept the busy trade counters able to run at full speed all the time. The customer found the Azure platform managed by Excenta to be stable and resilient. Excenta consultants were also able to decommission some legacy reporting services, remove 30% of the bespoke legacy code entirely and convert 40% into modernised, simpler solutions, as well as removing the concerns around any hard coded configuration or passwords within the code.

Functionality Focus

  • Scenario & Requirements
This customer had a legacy Microsoft Windows & SQL environment which was reaching end of life. In addition, their Epicor BisTrack software was significantly out of date and had not been upgraded for several years. The customer was missing out on valuable improvements in the software.

  • Excenta’s Activities
Excenta migrated the customer to a brand new BisTrack Azure environment as well as upgrading their Epicor BisTrack software to the latest version. Excenta reviewed the customers BisTrack implementation and ensured a smooth transition to the latest version.

  • Customer Outcomes
System performance and security were both increased as a result of the infrastructure change. The customer was able to make use of the new features within the BisTrack application which increased application reliability, provided new functionality, and addressed a long-standing risk to the business.

Change of ERP solution

  • Scenario & Requirements
This customer is one of the largest multi-branch Builders Merchants in England with over 30 locations, several hundred employees and a growing ecommerce operation. The customer was already on an Excenta Azure solution but had decided to change their ERP software due to constraints within the incumbent solution. The new ERP (Intact iQ) software would also work in the Excenta Azure environment but required different infrastructure components and configurations.

  • Excenta’s Activities
Excenta engaged with Intact iQ to understand their product and the required Infrastructure and cloud resources. Both vendors worked together both alongside and independently of the customer to create a suitable test environment to allow the customer to start their migration project.
As the project progressed, additional cloud infrastructure was required in the customers production environment. Excenta worked with the customer to right size those components and provide detailed pricing on all required resources, as well as implementing them according to best practice, in preparation for the ERP migration project to be run by the software vendor.

  • Customer Outcomes
The customer was able to transition from one ERP solution to another whilst still maintaining the Excenta Azure solution and Managed Service. Excenta were able to create and delete cloud resources in a safe, and cost-effective manner meaning the customer was never charged for unused resources nor were they disrupted by the ongoing project activities.
